Unlike conventional SUVs, the pioneering full hybrid RX crossover does without a propeller shaft to permanently drive the rear wheels. Instead, four-wheel drive capability is provided by our revolutionary E-FOUR system.

Highly responsive, E-FOUR instantly allocates torque from the high voltage 50kW electric motor, which is mounted on the rear axle, to drive the rear wheels – but only when required by driving style or road conditions. E-FOUR is typically engaged during heavy acceleration, when cornering or driving up a steep hill.

Tyre wear, fuel economy and emissions are all reduced by this intelligent, light-weight system.
