COMPREHENSIVE AIRBAG PROTECTION

The IS features state-of-the-art passenger protection. Its airbag system is particularly comprehensive, with ten strategically placed airbags fitted as standard.

In addition to 2-stage driver and front passenger airbags, there are knee and side airbags for both front seat passengers. Curtain shield airbags, left and right, can deploy rapidly and evenly across the entire cabin length.

The innovative twin-chamber design of the 2-stage front passenger airbag is a world first.

Once inflated, the twin chambers create a depression in the centre, effectively cradling sensitive areas of the face, such as the nose and mouth. The physical impact of the airbag is then dispersed across numerous other, less sensitive, contacts points on the head and shoulders.
